This week’s guest is Scenic and Costume designer David Zinn! David works on incredibly diverse projects and takes us into the design processes of many of his most well known designs including ‘The Flick’, ‘The Last Ship’, ‘The Human’s’, and his Tony nominated scenic design for ‘Fun Home.’ And for a guy who loves sets that are “grungy, thick, and muscular,” David shows off his versatility by discussing his design for the upcoming musical ‘SpongeBob Squarepants,’ and his endeavor to recreate Bikini Bottom live onstage!
David Zinn’s Broadway credits include Set and Costume design for Fun Home (Tony Award nomination), Seminar and The Last Ship, Set design for The Humans, The Real Thing, The Realistic Joneses and Violet, and Costume Design for Rocky, Picnic, The Other Place, A Tale of Two Cites, An Act of God, Airline Highway (Tony nomination), Other Desert Cities, Bengal Tiger…,Good People, Xanadu, and In the Next Room, or the vibrator play (Tony nomination). Off-Broadway: Set Design for Hir, The Sound and Fury, Kung Fu, The Madrid, Carrie, and Set and Costume design for The Flick, Circle Mirror Transformation, Placebo, Choir Boy, and Dogfight. His many Off-Broadway credits include productions at the Public Theater, MCC Theater, Elevator Repair Service, and Target Margin Theater.
